Chapter One: Endings and Beginnings
Author met Mary and Ernest Hemingway in 1959 at a festival in Spain.
Two years later, Hemingway died.
Author was part of the Hemingway clan from 1959 - 1961.
At the funeral of Ernest, met the estranged son of Ernest, his youngest son, Gregory. Author and Gregory got married.
Twenty-four years after Ernest Hemingway's death, Mary Hemingway died. Author attended Mary's funeral also. Mary had been upset she invited author to Ernest's funeral after she realized that the author was a reporter for Newsweek. But by the end of the funeral, Mary and author friends enough to go back to Cuba together to get Ernest's belongings out of Cuba -- back in 1961 or thereabouts.
Gregory and author married for twenty "turbulent, wonderful, dreadful, exciting" years but then divorced. Probably divorced about 1981.
