Beautiful, Beautiful Day For Reading
June 15, 2024 -- Portland, OR
Relatively warm day; alternating sunny/cloudy -- much like Yorkshire, England, this time of year. I'm sitting outside on the driveway / patio, watching the four-year-old twins and reading from the books I bought yesterday.
It reminds of the wonderful days of reading back in 2000 to 2007 when we lived in San Antonio. I spent many hours and many days on the deck next to the pool in the apartment complex were we lived, on the north side of San Antonio, within walking distance of the international airport.
I was reading voraciously then reading less now because of the hours I spend each day on the blog.
What I read today will continue to fill in the gaps of my "Storytelling" page.
Overhead is the final landing approach to the Portland International Airport, PDX, whose runway is shared by the Oregon National Guard (F-15EX). I love watching the paint schemes of the commercial carriers.
The books today:
- The Politics of Aristotle, translated with an introduction, notes and appendixes, Ernest Barker, c. 1958, withdrawn 6/24.
- The War That Killed Achilles: The True Story of Homer's Iliad and the Trojan War, Caroline Alexander, c. 2009, withdrawn 2/24.
- The Greek Myths, Complete Edition, Robert Graves, c. 1955, 1960, withdrawn 6/24.
