It began in Italy with Gaetano Polidori, a writer who had a printing press. He had a daughter, Frances Mary Lavinia Polidor (Naples) who married Gabriele Rossetti, a "Dante specialist." The Rosettis hung out in Malta for three three years and then moved back to London. They had four children, Maria Francesca, Gabriel Charles ("Dante"), William Michael, and Christina Georgina.
Gabriel Charles married Elizabeth Siddall and William Michael married Lucy Madox Brown.
"The Rosettis":
- the couple, Gabriel Charles and Elizabeth Siddall,
- the wife of the second couple, Lucy Madox Brown,
- and the father's fourth child, Christina Georgia.
The poets and painters played off each other, and all signed their works, "Rosetti."
Christina's first book of poetry, Verses, was published by her grandfather, Polidori in Italy.
It was said that Gabriel and Elizabeth (h/w) and Gabriel's younger sister, Christina, reinvented poetry.
