I'm in my Henry James phase. I've been reading the Viking edition of The Portable Henry James and find it delightful. I particularly enjoyed "The Beast in the Jungle."
Wherever I go I try to find discount book stores and/or library bookstores. It is amazing how many libraries sell "used" books for $2.00 for a hardback and $1.00 for a paperback.
I've been looking for a Henry James novel, since none were placed in the "portable" edition. Today at the Watertown, Massachusetts (suburb of Boston), library, I came across a paperback edition of The Ambassadors. Yup, a dollar.
I also picked up a copy of The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins, published in 1859. It's been on my list for awhile, but I finally found a copy at Anne's Bookstore in Belmont, Massachusetts, for $3.00. I head back to San Antonio, Texas, this weekend, so I have my reading material all ready to go.
